Since I had been growing out my hair the entire pregnancy and early formative months, I thought I ought to get a few photos taken of Micah and I together so I could remember what it was like to have so much hair. (Did I tell you about the time my lush pregnancy hair fell out in brushfuls every day for three weeks? I could literally pull handfuls out at a time all day long. I was sad to see it go.)

So onto less stomach-wrenching details… Anna obliged and took our photos yesterday afternoon in the melting heat of the day. As always, she did excellent work. It pays to know Anna. I know you all are so sick of my obsession with Micah, but this blog is maintained primarily for the Dignals & college buds. Did you know that? It’s true. The incessant onslaught of Micah photos are so Abuelita, Papa Dave, and The Bekah can keep tabs on the little boy.

The best part about this photo is that it isn’t staged! I looked over, saw this natural arrangement of tools and asked for some photos there. Micah loved the grass. He was having a great time pulling it up and twiddling it between his fingers. He wouldn’t even look up at us as we danced and gawked around him.

For your entertainment in the meantime, however, is a long list of quotes from today’s lunch & granola sesh with  Esquire Baker himself. (I asked if I should call him Dr. Baker, but apparently law grads are called “esquires.”) For his protection, I will not mention his entire name. He is now a practicing lawyer (yes, they let him become one!) and his own personality may lead to his downfall! *Suzin, I don’t know why, but he’s obsessed with commenting about you.

1. I bet all Micah’s neurons were lighting up like Christmas trees being around Susan, huh?

2. (On Bekah Johns’ wedding:) That was kind of a Townhouse/McConn wedding, wasn’t it?

3. (On Suzin going on a crime spree since he offered to be her lawyer:) Putting someone like Susan away is great for society and easy to do.

4. I’m in estate planning; so if you’re interested in dying, see me.

5. (On this “go green” business:) For every barrel of oil you don’t use, I’ll use three.

6. (At the end of page one:) You flatter me by writing down my slogans.

7. (On hooking Bekah Dignal up:) You’ve gotta find a farm kid, Bekah. That’s your golden ticket. Pull out that plot book and start looking.

8. (Because he couldn’t figure out a baby toy:) I’m starting to wonder if I passed the Bar exam.

9. (On living in Dr. Perchowski’s massive home:) If you can’t afford it, borrow it.

10. (On his brother’s girlfriend:) She’s a band director — strike one. She has indoor cats — strike two. I’m trying to think of a third strike but it’s not coming, but I know there’s plenty more.

11. (On the train that passes by our house:) You (Bekah) should go hobo and take that train into Fort Wayne. Your parents will think you’re in bed, but you’ll really be clubbing at Pierre’s.

12. (On Ohio:) They’re just loaded with Jews and money.

13. If you want to say it like a black person, you have to drop the “t” and add “ick” — “perfick, that’s perfick.”

14. Can you facebook me on what’s cool and not cool?

15. I took a bunch of protein shakes but they didn’t do a whole lot for me.

16. *a joke* Don’t tell that at school, Bekah.

17. (On Suzin’s destiny:) A librarian? She could really put those books away, couldn’t she?!

18. (On Bekah hopping a train as it passed by:) There really is a technique. You’re gonna wanna watch some youtube videos before you try it.

19. (On Bekah’s comment that a man died laughing:) You can’t laugh your way into Hell… or can you?

20. Did you know that if you add “UH” to anything, it’ll sound more ghetto? Like, “I’m gonna hit ya! UH!”

21. (On all of his racial comments:) The KKK is gonna be hunting me down. They’ll probably want to recruit me.

I’ve been doing Caydance’s photo each year, so I suppose it’s a tradition now. Selah is 6 weeks older than Micah and has plenty of hair to donate to his cause. How embarrassing for him.

In other news, Caydance managed to fill her fingernails with dirt from my garden. That’s 1 point for Jamul.

Here’s a couple results from “hey, let’s take a romp in my dill patch and laugh at the dog licking through the fence!” I think Sable proved his worth in tagging along for child photos.

You sure can’t tell from these photos, but Caydance is NOT a fan of the tutu. That’s 2 points for Jamul.

I’m pretty sure she’s also throwing down gang signs.

We cleared off the dinner dishes and put her on the table to catch that last little moment of golden California sunshine. Oh, I just gave away the secret.

I realize the lighting’s not perfect on this one, but what can you do when the sun is going down and you have a child trying to crawl off the table?
