I shot, adjusted WB/exposures, and got the images back to Daniel in 48 hours, folks! That’s unheard of, and I let him know it. Considering I was a prisoner of my home in the horridly cold & wet weather last week, this project came just in time.
Here are some of the finals. I happened to pick a lot of the shots using chocolate shards, but there was more variety used to display the various lotions. I’m just on a sweet tooth kick. I’m sure Daniel will whip out some in-house prints in a matter of days and we’ll see how these images transform into exciting, eye-popping, bedazzled ads. It’s kinda fun to pass something along and see what it can become!
Just for fun, let’s play “The Price is Right”! You comment on which item(s) you think retails for $100. Tanning is an industry & my friends are profiting off of it, so what can I say? I, personally, used to buy the $2 packets of lotion for my 10 minute session in the winters of Indiana. No shame, people, no shame.

Sarah, I LOVE these pictures!!!
The lighting looks really cool, did you have some sort of flash or off camera lighting?

Thank you! Daniel built his own light box for $10 using PVC piping, tungsten lights, and white rip-stop material. Adam and I already have a redesign idea involving a roll of long material or design paper to create an “infinite” appearance. It’ll be cool.

Any takers on guessing which item above retails for $100?

There’s too many to choose from. I would have liked to see one bottle spilled out with the stuff oozing out. My favorite is the last one with the icy blue background. Wow, 100.00 bottle…can’t decide..probably the one on ice.

I would definitely NOT have preferred to let any of this stuff ooze out! Too expensive! I won’t reveal the $100 bottle until three more people vote.

sarah, you’re awesome. VER nicely done.
let’s start and east/west coast studio, okay?

Meres, a photo co-op! YES! You can make anything look appealing! My mom was just saying last night how you’re so darling and everything you touch turns to gold. Well, that’s my summary of the conversation.
Okay, that’s vote #2 for White Ice (a tooth whitening stick).

i think pictures 2, 4, or 7 cost $100. educated knowledge or pure guessing? both. but i do know that things in little bottles almost ALWAYS cost a lot of money…. darn justice perfume that’s $30. although what do we get if we win the guessing? a bottle of the $100 product?….
27. January 2010 at 11:07 am
Well, I didn’t get the quota I wished for and I KNOW who visited my site without voting. I won’t mention names… Jon, Suzin, Elaine…
Bekah, you guessed which one but you voted three times. Thus, your prize is to go to your kitchen and make yourself a sandwich. Congratulations.
The $100 bottle of tanning lotion is DC Code for MEN! (Black bottle with silver top, photo 7 of 9) I have a song for this… “You’re so vain; you probably think this song is about you…” But nonetheless, tanning is a profitable industry and I’m (kind of) supporting it by taking these photos.

We have one that’s $130, it even has little LED lights in the bling medallion that sultrily hangs on it’s posh neck. People bought it like hot cakes. Sometimes I’m embarrassed for them but then I realize they are paying my bills
